Tymos Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy explains what information Tymos collects, why, where it goes and the choices you have. Tymos is made by Thymos Software Ltd ("we", "us"). If you have a question, write to thymos.software@gmail.com.
The short version:
- Most of what Tymos knows about you stays on your iPhone.
- Your Screen Time and Apple Health data never leave your phone. If you use Circle, friends see a 0–100 screen score worked out on your phone, never your hours.
- We only keep data on our servers if you create an account or use Circle.
- We use one analytics service, which never receives your name, your email, or anything from Screen Time or Apple Health.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, track you across other apps, or use artificial intelligence (AI).
1. Information that stays on your iPhone
The following is stored only on your device. We never receive it.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Screen Time (how long you spend in the apps you choose to limit, which of them take the most time, phone pickups) | To show your screen time against your daily limit, show your biggest distractions, block the apps you pick, and count the time you get back. It comes from Apple's Screen Time framework and never leaves your phone. |
| Apple Health (steps and workouts you allow us to read; workouts you choose to save) | To count training as time returned and, if you ask, to save the workouts you log back to Health. |
| Calendar (events, if you allow it) | To find free time in your day. We only read your events and never change them. |
| Your answers during setup (the name Tymos calls you, birth year, your screen-time guess and target, goals, habits and the distractions you pick) | To set your target, make the lifetime projection and word the block screen. |
| Your record (gates, gate schedules, workouts, workout photos, the evening check-in, streaks and time returned) | To run the app and show your progress. |
You can delete all of this at any time with Profile → Reset Tymos, or by deleting the app.
2. Information we keep on our servers
You can use Tymos without an account. If you create an account or use Circle, we store:
- Account details: your email address and password, or, if you use Sign in with Apple, the email Apple gives us (which can be a private relay address) and the name you choose to share. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash by our sign-in provider, never in plain text.
- Circle profile: your display name and username. Anyone signed in to Tymos can find you by them, so they can send you a friend request. Everything else in Circle is only visible to the friends you accept.
- Your Circle activity: the friends you connect with or block, the posts you share and their details (for example "Held 90 min" or a workout's duration and volume), reactions, comments, encouragement messages, and the reports you file.
- The Mast: if you name a friend as your crew, each time you ask them to let you open a gate or an app we store the ask: your display name, your crew, whether it was for one app or the whole gate, what you said the time was for, and their answer. Only you and your crew can see it. We never learn which app it was.
- Circle stats your friends can see: a screen score from 0 to 100 (worked out on your phone against your own limit; your hours are never sent), your streak, whether your gate is closed right now and until when, your gate streak and how many times you walked away today.
What Circle shares is controlled by the switches under Circle → ⚙︎ → What you share. Nothing is posted from before you turned sharing on.
Workout photos are not uploaded. They stay on your phone.
Our website waitlist. If you join the waitlist on our website, we keep your email address to send you one email when Tymos launches. We don't use it for anything else, and we delete the list within three months of launch. It's stored with Supabase in London. Email us to be removed at any time. The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your device's IP address to serve them.
Circle steps or distances only appear in a post if you type them in yourself; nothing is read from Apple Health for Circle.
3. Analytics
We use TelemetryDeck to understand how Tymos is used and where people get stuck, for example how many people finish setup, close a gate or start a trial.
- Each install gets a random identifier that is hashed on your phone before anything is sent. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
- We send the name of the event (for example "gate closed") and a few simple details: for example a gate's or workout's length in minutes, a setup step number, the screen-time guess and daily target you type in during setup, your app version and iOS version.
- We never send your actual Screen Time numbers, Health data, calendar, the apps you block, what you write, your name or your email to analytics.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app whether your subscription is active so we can unlock Tymos.
5. Notifications
Tymos schedules reminders on your phone (for example "your gate closes at 21:00", or a reminder before a free trial ends). These are created on your device. No message content passes through our servers.
6. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information.
- We don't show ads or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't collect your location or contacts.
- We don't use AI. Tymos's coach is a fixed set of rules that runs on your phone. Nothing you do is sent to an AI service or used to train one.
7. Who processes your information for us
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in and the database for accounts and Circle | United Kingdom (London, AWS eu-west-2) |
| TelemetryDeck | Privacy-focused analytics | European Union (Germany) |
| Apple | App Store purchases, Screen Time, Health, notifications | Under Apple's own privacy policy |
These providers process data only to run Tymos for us and under contract. If your data moves outside the UK or EU (for example to the United States), we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Why we're allowed to use it (UK and EU users)
- To provide the service you asked for (contract): your account, Circle and syncing.
- Your consent: Screen Time, Health, Calendar and notifications. Each one is asked for by iOS, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
- Legitimate interests: privacy-focused analytics to fix problems and improve Tymos, and keeping Circle safe (blocks and reports).
Health data is special category data. We only process it on your phone, with your explicit permission, to give you the feature you asked for.
9. How long we keep it
- On your phone: until you delete it, reset Tymos or delete the app.
- Account and Circle: until you delete your account. Use Profile → Delete account, which removes your Circle profile, posts, comments, connections and stats, then your sign-in account. Backups are cleared within 7 days.
- Reports about abuse may be kept for up to 12 months to keep Circle safe, even after an account is deleted.
- Analytics: kept in anonymous form by TelemetryDeck.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under UK GDPR, EU GDPR and US state laws such as California's), you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict or object to how we use it
- move it to another service
You can delete your account in the app at any time. For anything else, email thymos.software@gmail.com and we'll reply within one month. In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), or in the EU to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
Tymos is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
12. Security
Connections to our servers are encrypted (HTTPS). Circle data is protected by access rules in our database: apart from your display name and username, only you and the friends you accept can read it, and only you and your crew can read Mast asks. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and keep what we store to a minimum.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
